BY DANRJAt present, the famous Maracana Soccer-Football Stadium is being remodelled according to FIFA standards in order to be ready for the 2014 World Cup. New plastic seats will be introduced , all will be red in color, but the spectator capacity will be reduced from 86.000 to 76.525. When the stadium was built in 1950, its original capacity was at 200.000, by far the biggest stadium in the world. Also a new evacuation plan will be used , whereby spectators will be able to enter amd leave the stadium in 8 minutes.
- The new entry and exit plan will make it more easy for the fans to know exactly where they have to be seated. By Fifa standards , all the stadium must be evacuated within 8 to 12 minutes . In our plan, Maracana Stadium will be evacuated in less than 8 minutes– said the head of the project, Hudson Braga.
Maracana stadium will also have a new press center for the 2014 World Cup, and also an auditorium with 450 places, with a transmission center in the upper level.
